PRIVACY POLICY FOR EMBER
Last updated: May 17, 2026
Ember ("the App") is designed with a simple privacy principle: we don't collect your data, because we don't want it. This is especially important because the App is made for children.
WHAT WE COLLECT Nothing. The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to any server. Your child's name, age, habits, daily check-ins, streaks, and Ember's growth stage all stay on your device.
LOCAL STORAGE The App stores your child's habits and progress in your device's local storage so the data persists between sessions. This data never leaves your device. If you uninstall the App, this data is permanently deleted.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES The App uses no third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or trackers. There are no SDKs that phone home. There is no Ember server.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY The App is specifically designed for children ages 4-12 and participates in Apple's Made for Kids program (age band 6-8). Because the App does not collect, store remotely, or transmit any personal information whatsoever, no parental consent process is required under COPPA or similar laws. All information about your child remains on your family's device under your control.
PARENTAL CONTROLS The App includes a parental gate (a math question) that protects certain functions from being accessed without a grown-up. These protected functions include editing the selected habits and changing app settings. The main app itself contains no external links, no in-app purchases, and no third-party services that would otherwise require a parental gate.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version adds optional cloud sync or family-shared progress), we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. We will also continue to follow Apple's Kids Category guidelines in any future version. By continuing to use the App, you agree to the current version of this policy.
